Carousel

PHEOS was invited by Harrow Light Opera Company to collaborate with them on a joint production of Carousel in the autumn of 2007, which proved a great success.

The Mikado

PHEOS performed The Mikado most recently in 2007. Previous productions took place in 1932, 1937, 1952, 1959, 1968, 1979 and 1991.

Variety Music Hall

PHEOS has put on many Music Halls over the years and they are always popular with cast and audience alike. Our latest was in 2006.

Hello, Dolly!

We all had great fun performing Hello, Dolly! in the spring of 2006.

G&S: Director's Cut

This show, written by our own Musical Director Peter Allanson and put on in 2005, used Gilbert & Sullivan's music to tell the story of the D'Oyly Carte Opera.

Children of Eden

This American musical by Stephen Schwartz was PHEOS's main show in the spring of 2005.

The Melody Lingers On

This great compilation show, which was the PHEOS autumn production in 2004, tells the life story of Irving Berlin through his timeless melodies.

The Yeomen of the Guard

PHEOS last performed The Yeomen of the Guard in 2004. Previous productions were staged in 1927, 1934, 1947, 1953, 1961, 1970, 1981 and 1993.

Die Fledermaus

We performed Straus's magnificent comic opera - the professional version, no less! - as our main show in 2003.

Ruddigore

Our main show for 2002, previous PHEOS productions were staged in 1930, 1956, 1973 and 1985.

The Merry Widow

PHEOS performed Lehar's delightful operetta for the first time in 2001.

Trial By Jury

Productions of Trial By Jury have been staged in 1928, 1936, 1946, 1951, 1957, 1963, 1971, 1977 and most recently in 2000.

HMS Pinafore

In 2000, in a double bill with Trial By Jury, PHEOS put on an updated version of "Pinafore" set on a cruise liner! Previous more traditional productions were staged in 1936, 1951, 1963, 1971 and 1984.

Iolanthe

We last staged Iolanthe in 1999, and before that in 1925, 1931, 1949, 1958, 1964, 1975 and 1986.

La Belle Helene

La Belle Helene was our second foray into the world of Offenbach, in 1998.

The Pirates of Penzance

A perennial favourite, The Pirates of Penzance was PHEOS's main show in 1997. Previous productions were staged in 1928, 1946, 1957, 1967, 1977 and 1988.

Patience

The main show in 1996, this lesser-known G&S opera has been given quite often by PHEOS - in 1926, 1935, 1950, 1960, 1969 and 1980.

Carmen

We boldly staged Carmen, our first 'proper opera' in 1995.

The Gondoliers

Last performed by PHEOS in 1994, previous productions of The Gondoliers were in 1924, 1929, 1938, 1947, 1954, 1962, 1972 and 1982.

Jack The Ripper

Jack The Ripper by Ron Pember and Dennis de Marne is a musical comedy (yes, really!) giving an account of incidents relating to the 1888 East End murders and set in a Music Hall. It was PHEOS's autumn show in 1993.

Orpheus in the Underworld

1992's Orpheus in the Underworld marked a turning point for PHEOS, being our first non-G&S production.

Utopia Limited

PHEOS has produced Utopia Limited only twice in its history, in 1990 and 1978.


Princess Ida

Princess Ida has been PHEOS's main production seven times to date, in 1933, 1939, 1948, 1955, 1966, 1976 and 1989.

The Sorcerer

We are staging a new production of The Sorcerer in 2008. Click HERE for details. Our previous productions were staged in 1928, 1974 and 1987.

The Zoo

We performed this one act opera by Sullivan (without Gilbert) in a double bill with HMS Pinafore in 1984.

The Grand Duke

PHEOS completed the G&S canon with its production of G&S's least known opera in 1983.

Cox and Box

Another one act opera by Sullivan without Gilbert formed part of a PHEOS double bill with The Pirates of Penzance in 1967.
